Danny stars on Sky on Monday evening
Danny King and his Ipswich Witches have a chance to amend their recent inconsistent home form when they play host to play-off outsiders Swindon Robins at Foxhall Heath on Monday evening (16th August) at 7.30pm.
To add extra spice to the occasion Sky Sports viewers will be able to witness their performance and it is hoped that will be enough to spur Danny and his team onto a very welcome home win. Confidence is certainly low down at Foxhall at the moment and losing is as infectious as winning, so the bad habit will hopefully be brought to an abrupt end against the Wiltshire side.
The two previous home meetings have shown the remarkable "Jekyll and Hyde" side of Ipswich this season. Ten days ago the Lakeside Hammers were defeated 49-43 after a remarkable comeback from the Witches. After heat eight they were 18-30 down and seemingly out but an incredible rally by the home stars saw them claw that deficit back and even win the meeting with a race to spare. Danny was in irresistible form notching 14+1 from six rides and that after a first race blank when he fell in heat three as well.
Last Thursday all the bad habits returned. To be fair to Ipswich they were missing Scott Nicholls and Robert Miskowiak to injury but a decent guest in Rory Schlein and rider-replacement for the Pole - and of course some consistency should have been enough to see off lowly Coventry at home. It wasn’t however as the Bees powered to a 49-41 win to leave the Witches doomed to a play-off relegation battle with a Premier League side in late September/early October.
Danny had a poor night with 6+2 from five rides and even though Ales Dryml posted an Ipswich career best of 14 points it wasn’t enough to get even close to the Midlands outfit and final race 5-1 for Kasprzak/Barker against Dryml and Schlein sealed all four match points for Coventry.
