Boast in the mix at Short Track TT

In one of the toughest and most fiercely fought rounds of the Pozzani British Short Track Championhsip, Team Suzuki GB rider, Pete Boast, battled to one of his best finishes of the season at the weekend, as round six of the championship hosted the one-off TT race format.

Racing in the unconventional event that adds right and left direction changes and jumps, Boast started by giving himself work to do in the heat race, starting on the back row and going on to tangle with another rider in the semi-final to finish just one place short of qualification. Pinning all his hopes of final qualification on the Last Chance Race, Boast went on to a comfortable win, enabling him to take the last grid spot for the Grand Final.

With fierce competition and a unique track layout, Boast got a good start and quickly moved through the pack up to fourth spot. Looking towards a podium finish, the RM-Z450 rider made a small mistake and dropped back to seventh spot, before pushing on again and crossing the finish line in an encouraging fifth place.

Pete Boast commented, "Wow, that was a fierce round of racing. The TT event always provides some seat of the pants action, but this year's event was really full-on. In the final, I ended up with rubber marks all over me and the bike, as we were touching all the way through the race. Without the luxury of front brakes, we're on the limit and really have to back the bikes in to scrub off the speed and make the turns, but it's incredible fun. I was second quickest in the Dash for Cash race too, so it proves the bike has the speed. While we've not had the best of seasons so far this year, I feel good again and think we can go better in the next events."

The team will be back out in action this weekend for the European championship in Northern Germany.

Grand Final Results: 1st: Richard Mason, 2nd Edward Kennet, 3rd Aidan Collins, 4th David Haith, 5th Pete Boast, 6th Glyn Pocklington, 7th Marco Belli, 8th Tom Woolley, 9th Jacopo Monti, 10th Derek Brindly.

Championship Standings: 1st Collins (106), 2nd Belli (78), 3rd Monti (75), 4th Woolley (70), 5th Mason (63), 6th Boast (58), 7th Trapmore (56), 8th Pocklington (52)
